"Do not turn your face away from any of the poor, and
God's face will not be turned away from you." - Tobit
4:7
Saint Teresa of Calcutta, affectionately known as 'Mother Teresa'
said "In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small
things with great love." As we gather in love of Christ in community,
we are giving you an opportunity to do a small act of love for your
neighbor. Steubenville Florida asks each teen come with an item to
donate as part of our WITNESS Service Project. It’s not in the Eucharist
alone that we meet our Lord. God invites us to serve Him in the poor,
weak and dependant brothers and sisters in our community. God gives
us an enormous opportunity to serve the incarnate Christ who dwells
in our midst as He passes by hidden and often neglected. Again and
again, God calls us to be Christ to another. As we honor God truly
present in the Eucharist and come to know Him deeper through the sacraments,
let’s not forget the poor among us. You are encouraged to bring an
item that will be donated within the community where we live and serve.
This may require a sacrifice from your allowance or part time job
paycheck. God will not be outdone! "Give, and it will be given to
you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over,
will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will
be measured to you." Luke 6:38
Some suggested items to bring on conference weekend are: children’s
books, canned food items, powdered milk, laundry detergent, shoes,
underwear (men, women & children) toiletry items, diapers. All items
will be collected outside the Pope John Paul II H.S. gym between 7:30
a.m – 9:00 a.m. A Young Apostle will direct you to the collection
bin. Recipients of service project items are: Catholic Charities,
St. Ann’s Place and the local migrant community. Together we can make
a difference as we put our faith into visible action for God’s people
in need. Together we will have increased WITNESS to the Father as
we obediently follow His command to love our neighbor as ourselves.
God bless you!
